As a town with a fishing and delta tradition, L'Ampolla boasts a rich cuisine, unique to this region.
Naturally enough, being a fishing village, it has the very best varieties of fresh Delta fish and exquisite
shellfish flavoured seafood stews, such as the Delta oyster, which can be eaten either raw and cooked,
by means of the innovative recipes created by the chefs in our restaurants.
The influence of the Delta can be noted in the traditional Catalan dishes such as Fideuà (a paella
type dish made with noodles instead of rice), eel in sauce and smoked eel. These along
with black rice and rice a banda (paella rice) are among a wide variety of rice dishes that
have been created using the delicate products of our land and the Mediterranean sea.
For those with a sweet tooth, as well as the sweet dishes offered by the dessert chefs, there are other
traditional desserts such as coc de brossat, cakes made with cabell d'àngel (a kind of
sweet vermicelli) and les coquetes de la creu.
